Areas of use

Smart cable makes a power cable to a remote device and monitors power consumption. The smart cable can be used if there is no space for a smart plug or 10 amp required. capacity. Smart cable has flexible cable connection and is not dependent on contact type.

Instructions

Get started

Important before you begin. Be sure to disconnect the power cord to be used from the power outlet before starting installation.

Step 1. Unscrew the four screws on the back of the smart cable.

Step 2. Open the smart cable cover by pressing the fastening mechanism on both sides. Use a flat-headed screwdriver.

Step 3. Cut the cable in two with a stripping tool and remove approx. 25 mm of the outer insulation from both ends of the cable so that three wires are visible. Remove approx. 5 mm of insulation on each of the three wires at both ends of the cable.

Step 4. Place the exposed cables under the clamps of the smart cable and correctly tighten the wires in the correct port (conductor, ground and neutral). Make sure that the wires are tightened by tightening the screws.

Step 5. Before installing the wires to the smart cable, note which terminals are IN and what is LOAD. Insert the cables of the device into the LOAD port and end that goes into the power outlet of the IN port.

Step 6. After the wires are attached, tighten the screws on the cable clips to secure the wires.

Step 7. Place the cover back on the device and screw the four screws to close the cover.

Step 8. Make sure the cable is securely attached.

Step 9. Connect the smart cable to the power outlet.

Step 10. The smart cable will now start to look for a gateway to connect to (a Zigbee network).

Step 11. The LED flashes red every second while it is looking for a gateway.

Scan for Smart cable

Step 1. Scan for new device in Wattle to connect it to your gateway. (Settings–>Manage devices)

Step 2. When the LED button stops blinking, the Smart cable is connected to Wattle.

 

Configure Smart cable

Step 1. Set a device name

Step 2. Add the device to a room.

Select the room you want from the list or add a new room.

 

Step 3. Select Usage

Generic The function is separated from any system logic. You can view and control the status of the function in the “generic” tab in the room view.

Light The function is connected to a light source and is connected to the light logic of the selected room. You can control the lights as part of the room or invidiually in the “lights” tab in the room view.

Climate control The function is connected to a heating or cooling device and is connected to the climate logic. You can control the climate settings from the “temperature” tab in the room view. Usage option choose between heating device and cooling device.

Step 4. Choose Apply when satisfied with configuration.

 

Different cable sizes

The device can easily be quickly adjusted to fit different cable sizes. If the opening is not large enough for the cable, loosen and slide the cable duct adapter.

How to use the Smart cable

The smart cable is controlled via Wattle. Turn it on and off or add time management of the device. The smart cable is on (active) when the green LED light is on.

You can manually control the device by pressing the button on the smart cable.

Smart cable is in off mode when LED light is not lit.

The smart cable will turn off automatically if the load exceeds 16 A or the internal temperature becomes too high.

In case of power failure, the device will be reset to the on / off status before the power failure.

Resetting Smart cable

Reset is required if you want to connect the smart cable to another gateway or reset the smart cable to factory settings due to abnormal operation.

Step 1. Connect the smart cable to a power outlet.

Step 2. Press and hold the button on the smart cable.

Step 3. Hold the button until the red LED light blinks continuously. About. 15 seconds. Then release the button.

Step 4. The red LED light will be on for 2-5 seconds after releasing the button. Do not turn off or disconnect the device while resetting.

Troubleshooting

In case of bad or weak signal, try to mount the smart cable or gateway somewhere else.

You can improve the signal between the smart cable and gateway by placing a Zigbee signal amplifier between the smart cable and the gateway.
