Do i need an electrician to install the system?

No.

Special installations require can require an electrician. Our Wattle devices are user installed.

Who are Wattle?

Wattle are a smart home brand from Home Control AS (C) for connected homes and connected buildings. Wattle builds on Home Control’s 3rd generation IoT platform and are available in selected countries in Europe.

How does the security system work?

A security system typically consists of magnet sensors on doors and windows, motion sensors in various places in your room and sirens in addition to the controlling gateway.

The system has three different armed modes:

•Away – This armed mode usually enables all the motion and magnet sensors and is typically used when there is no one at home.
•Stay – This armed mode usually enables all the magnet sensors but none of the motion sensors. If used like this the magnet sensors creates a “shell” around your home and is typically used when you are at home during the daytime and want protection against intruders.
•Night – This armed mode usually enables all the magnet sensors and selected motion sensors. Typically the motion sensors around your bedroom are left disabled allowing you to move freely in your bedroom and to the bathroom without triggering the alarm. This mode is typically used when you are going to sleep and creates a safe zone around your sleeping area.

All of the armed modes can enable/disable any sensor to your liking.

How does Wattle work?

With the Wattle you can control lights, temperature, sensors, smoke detectors and a number of appliances and other devices from your smartphone or tablet. The core of the system is the Wattle gateway to which you connect all your wireless devices, and the app.

Will Wattle run without internet and or power?

YES

The Wattle premium gateway is built with backup battery power and a sim card slot to connect with your chosen network.

Does it cost anything to use Wattle?

Wattle is free of use. But this year,, at Wattle we are working on offering additional and new services that will expand the use of the Wattle platform with even more and greater features to take the your home to the next level.

There will be added subscriptions for services provided by external third parties that you can connect to your system, cloud storage (camera recordings etc), extended static functionality and more.

Subscriptions and prices will be announced later in 2020.

And of course, our smart home basic functionality will always be free in the Wattle app – and with the new add-on solutions, we will offer services you can choose to fit your needs, when it suits you, at the right price.

Can anyone log into my Wattle system?

No

Wattle has a unique authentication process where we have done away with usernames and passwords for extra user security.

Is Wattle a closed system?

Unlike most other systems, we focus on implementing communication standards, not specific devices. By not focusing on specific devices, most standard compliant devices can be added to your gateway without any input from us or you. If you have already invested in a lighting or alarm system, you can connect them to our gateway, and have them available everywhere, anytime in one app. Now, that’s what we call smart.

Wattle is built for open standards and supports both Zigbee and Z-wave, This allows you to easily connect with other brands.

How can I add more users to my project?

You can add as many users you like. All they need to do is download the app and connect the app to your gateway.

Open the new user’s app and click “OK, I’m ready” to start the connection. Make sure your smartphone is connected to the same network as your gateway, follow the next steps to connect the smartphone with the gateway:

Step 1. Press the Connect button located in the center of the gateway to turn on the connection mode. * You have successfully placed the gateway in connection mode when the green LED light is on.
Step 2. Wait for the gateway and the smartphone to connect.
Step 3. If the connection has been successfully achieved, a message will appear in the app.
Step 4. Enter the project and user details and click “Ok, I’m done”.

To see the new user choose Settings from the menu, select Access Control from any of the linked applications.

Can I connect a device that is not a Wattle product?

Yes – in most cases. We believe in building a platform that supports the open standards. As long as the device firmware supports Zigbee ZLL, HA 1.2 og 3.0 you most likely will get the device connected with our platform. Follow the device reset method and scan for new device with the Wattle-app.

Can I control all lights in one room as a group?

YES – you can assign all lights to a room and thereby control all of them with one slider in the app. Please make sure the switch is set to the “whole room”.

Can I get notifications?

Yes. Wattle let you choose three types of notifications.

•SMS
•Push notification
•Email

You can select all three types.
Wattle provides you with notifications when:

•Security alarm is triggered
•Fire alarm is triggered
•Flood alarm is triggered

Go to settings and select “notifications”. From this menu you can select all three types of notifications.

•If you select sms you need to enter your phone number and select the correct country code.
•If you choose to use email notification enter your email address.

How to strengthen the signal in between the device and the gateway?

Erratic behavior – If the device seems to work sometimes and other times not or is very slow to react, the cause is probably a weak signal.

 

Change the location of the gateway or strengthen the signal with a device connected to the AC power (signal repeater) (smart bulb, smart outlet or similar) in between the gateway and the device.

 

A key component of the Zigbee protocol is the ability to support mesh networking. In a mesh network, nodes are interconnected with other nodes so that multiple pathways connect each node.
